For information, you'll find hereby the detail of the article 10 of the law n°99-477 of the 9th of June 1999 aiming at guaranteeing the right to the access to the palliative care. In this article the role of the volunteers of accompaniment at the end of life is clearly defined.
"Volunteers, trained to the
accompaniment of the end of lifetime and part of associations which select
them, can, with the agreement of the sick person or of its close relations and
without interfering with the practice of the medical care and ancillary medical,
to bring their support to the team of care by taking part at the ultimate
accompaniment of the patient and by comforting the psychological and social
environment of the sick person and of its entourage. The associations which organize
the intervention of voluntary endow themselves with a charter which defines the principles
that they must respect in their action. These principles are in particular
the respect of the philosophical and religious opinions of the
accompanied person, the respect of its dignity and its intimacy, discretion, the
confidentiality, the absence of interference in the care. Associations which
organize the intervention of volunteers in establishments of public or private health and social and medico-social establishments must conclude, with the
establishments concerned, a convention in conformity with a standard convention
defined by decree in Council of State. In the absence of such a convention or
when it is noted failures with the respect of the provisions of convention, the
director of the establishment, or failing this the prefect of area, in agreement
with the regional director of the medical and social action, forbid the
access of the establishment to the members of this association. Only
associations having concluded the convention mentioned with the preceding
subparagraph can organize the intervention of volunteers at the home of the
sick people."
